Jonika Gerald is the Founder and CEO of Gussie Mae “Special Needs” Adult Daycare Center, Inc., established on January 29, 2020.

A proud graduate of Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center – School of Social Services & Education (Class of 2000), Jonika went on to attend Texas Woman’s University before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from American InterContinental University. She is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated – Kappa Zeta Chapter. 💙🤍🕊️

Jonika is a Registered Medical Assistant and has been an active member of the Home Health Agency community for over 10 years. She serves as the First Lady of Cornerstone Community Church of DeSoto and has been married to Pastor B.D. Gerald, Sr. for 23 years. Together, they are blessed with two wonderful children—a son and a daughter.

After much prayer and spiritual reflection, Jonika felt divinely led to serve individuals with special needs. The name “Gussie Mae” honors her beloved grandmother—her mother’s mother—who raised twelve children, one of whom was born with special needs.

Through Gussie Mae Adult Daycare Center, Jonika continues her mission to serve, support, and uplift the special needs community, dedicating her life’s work to expanding opportunities, compassionate care, and meaningful support for individuals and families affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Scripture: Leviticus 19:14 (KJV)

“Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the Lord.”

God makes it clear that all are to be treated with care and grace.

Blessings,
Jonika Gerald, Founder & CEO
